Direct Trade is a sales practice related to the growing, selling, and buying of microlots–small amounts of coffee grown with an unusual attention to detail on pinpricks of land. Beans from microlots are strictly segregated when picked, processed, bagged, and shipped. Microlots are small, maybe 5 or 10 bags of coffee, with the most prized of these lots clocking in with fairly high cupping scores
Direct trade is the practice that we always do in sourcing all of our coffee grown in our beloved soil, Indonesia! We always purchase directly from the producer either they are farmers or processors, in amount of 10 bags more or less. We believe by doing this, despite of building relationship with all of coffee producers whose supporting us, we can also assure sustainable quality in each lot that we receive
The first direct trade that we ever did is to Satrea Amambi, a proud coffee farmer in Guntur mountain, Kamojang, Garut. In 2016, we started this relationship by buying his unsorted harvested crop in order to make some working capital for his next so called specialty crop. He bought fairly high amount of baby coffee plant, nurture them and plant them properly where during the time we agree to call the lot as #GeranggangInitiative and now, three years later, we eventually received those lot harvested and we couldn’t be more prouder as the result is pretty excellent!
This lot we called as #GeranggangInitiative is now we introduce to you as Ceri Cerah Meriah due to the bright cherry flavor galore with a hint of jasmine found in this amazing coffee! Ceri Cerah Meriah is NOW AVAILABLE at www.motherpigeons.com and let us share you our first experience in commencing direct trade in specialty coffee ☕️
